Day 86 of 182 (6 of 14 Korea)

Paint by numbers cycle tour continues…and we are loving it…a nice ‘holiday’ marking halfway point of our WWOOF/Cycle Japan adventure…yesterday’s warm temp. has become hot (dizzy heights pushing mid-20s…Scottish summer stuff!!!)…priority shifted from finding hot water ♨️ & gloves to finding factor 50+ suntan lotion & water…it’s all about SUN & WATER…excursions off cycle path in search of food, water & suntan lotion only source of cultural exchange (superficial)…usual mix of overwhelming kindness and the rest…

the rest freezing you out of existence…ask a question no eye contact, no answer, no acknowledgement you are standing looking and talking, NOTHING…pretty impressive really…
Some solid sharp climbs, but always the Friendly Blue Line to follow when going off main cycle path…finished day Wild Camp on Pagoda surrounded blossoming cherry blossoms, and sound of water flowing over impressive weir…combination sun & climbs had Heidi & Brad exhausted, Sam & Joe less so…tomorrow hopefully finish up in Daegu (2.5 million pop., 2800 people per km2) for first of 2 nights booked in The Pink Motel…

JOE DIARY ENTRY: Today we saw 2 Red Backed Rat Snakes! the first I didn’t see but the second one I saw! (it was a stick at first but when the bikes went past it was a thrashing snake, faster than a Mamba into the reeds)

SAM DIARY ENTRY: today we saw 2 snakes. That’s 3 in 3 days. We agreed that S. Korea has more snakes than Japan.

Striking camp

From waking to leaving takes about 90 minutes (ish)…

Korean signs don’t do ‘ish’…

But for the sharp climbs…

they do give encouragement….

and respect…

unlike the Bank Bandit Bike Bling…

or circling sharks…

requiring a safe place to sleep…

at the end of the day
